“For, behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,” Isaiah 3 v1
See the Lord, the Lord of all people-of all armies-of all nations of people. Here he does take away from both Jerusalem and Judah their stock and storage of every support and supply.
Reading on into the chapter the reason is because at the time “their tongue and their doings are against the Lord”. Yes, they are the chosen nations of the Lord and because he loved them as he does us today, the shortcomings of our choices when we go against his way become evident.
The epedimec’s of portion in our nation today are for what reasons? Love of money more than the love of anthers life, maybe. Ethics, morality are confused with personal or secular group activities choosing what is right and denying what is written as a purpose to help us avoid those choices.
God is a merciful God, and his love endures for ever. He is also a just God and his justice will reign for the good of all.
