To be like Jesus 16

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place, wither he himself would come. Therefore he said unto them,

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for the might works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he the despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” Luke 10 V1-16

To reason away the sending of more into the nations of the world with the message of repentance and salvation through Christ Jesus is simply the wrong thing to do. Reality checks us most of the time based on the cultures we are brought up in and surrounded by. Jesus here at this time sent more in two’s to bring his message, he told them to go, and those who would accept his message through them to bring peace to their homes. In our travels today it is a wonderful thing to find those who are a part of the body of Christ, to have fellowship with them and to work together with them in sharing the message of Christ. As we travel, we work, and therefore work not to bring a burden to others but to bring relief and Christian fellowship. As we travel we pray with others, and witness God’s healing through people having faith in him. We do find those who reject the message, but even more it seems we find those who believe, yet it seems have many other priorities, or maybe believe on their own standards to what the Lord has said. Jesus put it plain here, to have seen all the works and miracles of God and not accept that the judgement to that in eternity is Hell.

He sent to tell of his Love, and share in his message of forgiveness through repentance and faith in him.

To be like Jesus. To bring the message of the Gospel (truth) of Christ Jesus, to have fellowship with those of the same, and to shake of the rejection and continue on this missionary journey of life. There’s more…

Lord, I thank you for this day and ask you hear a special prayer for the missionaries around the world and in our communities today. Help us this day to understand and do what you would have us to do in your way. I pray today for my family and all others. Amen
