To find rest on the day of rest.
“Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. And he said,
Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perishes between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of you this generation. Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering ye hindered.
And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, to provoke him to speak of many things: Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.” Luke 11 v45-54 AKJV
Our first resting place is in going to our father, pray, “Our father which art in heaven”- TBLJ 21, He will give us rest in him “seek and ye shall find”, -TBLJ 22, his strength, his peace, his looking after us is stronger than anything we can provide on our own, “hear the word of God, and keep it.” -TBLJ 23 To know him, learn of him in finding the right righteousness in our hearts/soul “except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” -TBLJ 24 We are in one unity with Jesus, “when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light:” Our joy, our peace, our rest is fulfilled when we see him in us whole, because he is Holy. Our world offers many alternatives, we see them with the physical eye, we see with our ears at times what we hear, and all of this leaves impressions on our minds. We can avoid ungodliness that takes influence in our thinking by resisting, walk away, we don’t have to partake of much of what the prince of this world offers, and we will be happier for it. Peace of mind. -TBLJ 25 We can know who we are on the inside, and it will show on the outside. Jesus stood firm against the show of right when he knew a lot was wrong on the inside. TBLJ 26
Today, to be aware of those who draw you into endless conversation, and wish heavy burdens-laws upon others that they themselves cannot live up to. Many seek to draw on every word for trickery and deception, hoping to destroy the righteous,but the Love of God, the discernment of his spirit, which lives in those who have by faith accepted him will prevail. Those who know Jesus will have a kind spirit to show even when the love of correction is necessary to lead one away from destruction. The beauty of the Lord is knowing that he truly is in control. We do all we can do, he will take the rest, and we can find rest this day in knowing him.
Christ Jesus, Our confessions come to you, your pardon comes to us.
Lord Jesus, our roads seem weary at times but I know our peace is found in you. Thank you for this day. Thank you for all that you have done for us. I thank you the path is set at peace when we trust in you. Amen
