“Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch,and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the theif would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” Luke 12 v35-40 AKJV
To be like Jesus. Gather ourselves in him, strengthen ourselves in our faith, trust him in our faith, and let that be known unto others that we are to be watching for his return. Our strength is in the almighty.
“To whom then will ye liken unto me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest of Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40 v25-31
This day is the Lords day, let me remember that. Lord, our day is in your hands, forgive us where we have failed and hear our prayers. Let nothing stand between us and your ear to our prayer. Let us hear what you are saying to our answered prayer today. Reduce the one who is our adversary to your purposes today and give strength to your purpose in us and others around us as well. Our humility is in you, and not in the world as it would like to see. Amen
