To be like Jesus 41

Today

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” Proverbs 11 v14

“The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.” Proverb 14 v14

To be like Jesus. The very connotation of ‘To be like Jesus’ for me imply’s a desired standard of Christianity, but much more important than that is to know him. Scripture teaches that those following the teachings of Christ and his disciples does result in being called Christian. TBLJ1

“And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christian first in Antioch.” Acts 11 v26 AKJV

Today, as always before, there is no shortage of those who can tell others the life to live. There still is even a strong community of many who seem to have separated themselves in a righteousness that does not totally belong to God. The council of those will one day be weighed in the balances of the almighty, the same as each one who stands before the Lord.

“And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.” Luke 13 v22-30 AKJV

One man once met another in a far away place while staying in a boarding house. A long story short, the purpose of the divine appointment in that old boarding house led to a lifetime of spiritual testimony and possibly testimonies. The only reason that was possible is the through the grace of God, one of them was allowed by faith to accept that grace. By that Grace a renewed life began once again, and strength beyond measure was the portion given, because the almighty new it was needed. In that same move, there were others at the man’s home far away that benefited from the same grace allowed the man, the family carried on and thrived to new levels. Life still came, decisions were still made. Many were good decisions, some came with the education the world offers which can be difficult at times. Day to day, they lived and because of God’s grace no threat was able to overcome them. TBLJ 39 It is amazing, the impact, the circle of one Christian in a boarding home, and the prayers of many others brought to the life of the other man and his family. The best any of us can do is from the last wrong, from that point on, work to be right.

Lord, renew the renewed this day, it is your day. Amen

  1. Lord, help me to be in the place you want me to be and help me to recognize the ones you have put in front of me. Thank you for the one man, in that boarding house, and willingness to do what He was supposed to do.

  2. I am thankful that in that boarding house, he was willing to be used of God and he shared about God’s grace. I wait for the day that I get to meet him and thank him for being obedient. I pray that I am always in the place God wants me to be and I pray that I always recognize the ones that He has put in my life. I am so thankful for that Amazing Grace! In the events of this weekend, I am so much reminded how gracious God really is to me.
