To be like Jesus 20

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her,

Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10 v38-42

To be like Jesus. If we asked ourselves, as Jesus did his disciples, What manner of spirit is this that is showing up in who we are? Are we putting things in life ahead of what God would have us to do? TBLJ 14, We cannot turn back on this Journey he has called us to put our hands to, even when it seems we are not getting to far? TBLJ 15, There are still many who need to hear the correct word in order to prepare themselves for eternity. TBLJ 16 Although great power has been given in the realm of our spiritual lives, the most important part above any power we receive is that our name, as a “born again Christian,” is written in the lambs book of life. Jesus is the lamb. TBLJ 17 To know Jesus, is to know God, the debate ends. TBLJ 18 To show compassion, mercy, and understanding is directly in line with who we are as Christ Jesus like Christians TBLJ 19

Many have heard and many have seen the miracles of God, or even the judgement of God in there own lives yet have chosen to go another way. Today, Martha’s concerns over what she thought must be the most important actions for the visit of Jesus were redirected to understand the need to really hear him.

In my heart many times, it would be a great blessing if some would just hear what God is saying to them. The business of today’s culture creates a justification process to not take the time to hear God, To hear Jesus calling us all to repentance of wrong doings or to hear Jesus bless what we are doing as life goes forward.

Being born again is more than just a place secured in heaven when this earthly life is over. The scripture teaches us that it comes with a renewing of who we are…

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51 v10

Life, let me live life as you have raised me, as being born again.

“Jesus saith unto her,

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believe thou this?” John 11 v25, 26 AKJV

and the word continues…

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For this we groan, earnestly, desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5 v1-10 AKJV

Lord, Jesus, in heaven and of all the earth, we thank you for all that you have done for us. Let me pray Lord of my confession’s first asking you to remove all things hidden or unhidden that may stand between you and I and this prayer. Hear my heart Lord, as I know I am weak and you are strong. Keep in me a strong faith, renew in me a strong spirit, and clean heart. I pray this prayer, not alone for me this day, but for all others as well. Especially those who I know are struggling in some form this day. We believe in your healing in all forms, and we keep our faith in you. We rebuke in your name, this day, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, evil that is now or will be working against us this day. We love you Jesus and we thank you again for all that you are doing for us. Amen

“And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him,

What is written in the law? how readest thou?

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind, and thy neighbor as thyself. And he said unto him,

Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.” Luke 10 v25-28

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor? And Jesus answering said,

A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves , which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on hi, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him,

Go, and do thou likewise.” Luke 10 v29-37

To be like Jesus. To show mercy and kindness. Time after time people, because of rooted differences from generations past treat one another with great discontent but Jesus in his travels showed the disciples how to move on from those circumstances. When he was rejected he did not take a form of retaliation nor did he encourage it. Jesus knew the difference when it came to rooted issues that led people to think they were right and what his actions would have on bringing to pass in the future what was really right. People react to actions from others many times over.

In the realm of spiritual warfare, the subtle enemy is the one that is most hard to recognize at times.

Lord, in our walk with you, we know there is an accuser of the brethren. We know he challenges all of us in ways to take up his mantra. Our discernment in today’s culture must be predicated in prayer to understand the circumstances of others in order to help them out of the situation of having their lives destroyed by the most credulous thief and robber. Help us Lord Jesus to know your way throughout this whole day. Help those that we come in contact with hear what you are saying to them in and through your spirit that lives in us this day. We give you the glory and the praise for what you are going to do. Amen

“In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said,

I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered to me of my father: and no man knoweth who the Son is but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to who the Son will reveal to him.

And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately,

Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” Luke 10 v21-24 AKJV

To be like Jesus. To rejoice in what God has shown us. Life is good and eternity is forever. The creator, God, of “heaven and earth” has known and forever knows what is good and what is evil. All things will be weighed in the balances of true judgement one day, and for the one with a true heart whom is seeking to see the Lord, will all of it be revealed. Jesus loves us, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. God is good, better than good and we are so very, very, thankful for all that he has done for us.

Lord, we thank you for this day, and for the days before us and all those that are with you this day, and for those with us now, that you would bless them this day beyond measure, and for the things to come that we know, by faith you have in store for us, we thank you. Amen

To be like Jesus 17

“And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them,

I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10 v17-20 AKJV

Triumph is not as much a position of dominance over the enemy of the cross as it is knowing that by the blood shed of Christ on the cross the enemy no longer has dominance over the born again Christian. More beauty of being blessed of the Lord is sharing in the desire of most to receive good from another, and then witnessing them being liberated from the bondage of sin.

To be like Jesus. It seems the importunity of many in national leadership is to push a power of agenda than a culture of freedom. Free in Christ is to be bonded to him but free from sin and bonded to his life directions of living. He is good and his mercy will last forever.

“Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto men. For we ourselves also were some times foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being made justified by his grace, we should be made heirs to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3 v1-7 AKJV

“The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.” Proverbs 15 v33

Dear lord, we are thankful once again for this day and rejoice in our hearts knowing you. So unworthy, but by your mercies we live and I give you thanks. What a blessed and wonderful day this is and to know on one day we will be with you, where there will be no kinds of pains or heartaches yet today, it is still your day. Help us Lord to be renewed in our spirit, in our minds, and in our body’s to do fulfill your purposes this day. Our family’s, our friends, and all others we bring to you today. Meet there needs Lord in the way you see it needs to happen. Amen

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place, wither he himself would come. Therefore he said unto them,

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for the might works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he the despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” Luke 10 V1-16

To reason away the sending of more into the nations of the world with the message of repentance and salvation through Christ Jesus is simply the wrong thing to do. Reality checks us most of the time based on the cultures we are brought up in and surrounded by. Jesus here at this time sent more in two’s to bring his message, he told them to go, and those who would accept his message through them to bring peace to their homes. In our travels today it is a wonderful thing to find those who are a part of the body of Christ, to have fellowship with them and to work together with them in sharing the message of Christ. As we travel, we work, and therefore work not to bring a burden to others but to bring relief and Christian fellowship. As we travel we pray with others, and witness God’s healing through people having faith in him. We do find those who reject the message, but even more it seems we find those who believe, yet it seems have many other priorities, or maybe believe on their own standards to what the Lord has said. Jesus put it plain here, to have seen all the works and miracles of God and not accept that the judgement to that in eternity is Hell.

He sent to tell of his Love, and share in his message of forgiveness through repentance and faith in him.

To be like Jesus. To bring the message of the Gospel (truth) of Christ Jesus, to have fellowship with those of the same, and to shake of the rejection and continue on this missionary journey of life. There’s more…

Lord, I thank you for this day and ask you hear a special prayer for the missionaries around the world and in our communities today. Help us this day to understand and do what you would have us to do in your way. I pray today for my family and all others. Amen

To be like Jesus 15

“And Jesus said unto them,

Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

And he said unto another,

Follow me

But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him,

Let the dead bury the dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farwell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him,

No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9 v58-62 AKJV

To be like Jesus. On his journey, his missionary journey of life, Jesus encountered many and was rejected of many as well. There were some who it seemed would choose to follow maybe seeking some recognition of some type, others who would yet had a strong will to take care of what they thought of needed first and then follow.

This sounds harsh, but what Jesus told them is that even he at times had no place to lay his head at night. He was not designated an earthly home to sleep in every night. I believe he wanted them to be aware of the fact the journey had it’s purpose way above all the things this world would have us desire, yet not put us as individuals on a pedestal of self. The times of rejection even in his last week after a ministry of many miraculous events tells the callousness of people who get caught up in the spiritual warfare of good against bad.

“…The Bible teaches over and over that one of the truest marks of a Christian is to be thoughtful and considerate in all relations of family life, especially in times of sorrow. Jesus means that the things of God are of infinitely greater importance, and in case of conflict there should not be a moment of hesitation. God first always.” Halley’s Bible Handbook p506

A navy veteran friend of mine reminded me earlier on this week of the soldier and how they are to survive in the time of crisis. “Rely on their training” to get through the toughest spots. One must understand how to follow direction completely from those who have already been through the battles or can see what lay ahead.

This world and the expectations of people at times can seem to much to bear, but with Christ we can follow his way and be over-comers. Today’s politics in government, but even in the church can throw huge challenges to ones desire to fulfill God’s calling, but is never deemed as an opportunity to turn away from God’s calling. Expectations of this world is not our sustaining strength. Our strength is in God’s grace not only in his forgiviness of our sins but in the Godly power to over-come. True humility is to understand the joy that comes from the peace of God that passeth all understanding.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4 v6,7 AKJV

Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray for my own and for all others. Amen

“And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said,

Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man in not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.

And they went to another village.” Luke 9 v51-56 AKJV

To be like Jesus. The diverse ethnic groups or cultures over time have grown from the very beginning out of the tribes of Israel to where we are today. Even in Jesus day, travel brought him to different cultural journeys that had rooted division from even hundreds of years before his time.

In a teaching moment, the disciples or ones with him asked in a way-shall we be offended because we are not readily accepted and show some course of retaliation because of our offense? Jesus answer was not one of a defensive posture but one of correction to his own, asking what manner of thinking or “spirit” is manifesting in you. Jesus knew, and this is why it is written, that a time would come for all to have the opportunity to be grafted into the body of Christ. He knew one offensive nature did not get answered correctly by another. He knew that his purpose was to save those which were lost, those who had lost the understanding of God’s love for them, his true precepts and statutes, and that grace would come as healing for the ethnic problems that needed to be overcome, and it did.

“Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called to Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That a time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the common-wealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who some times were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the father.” Ephesians 2 v11-18 AKJV

Lord, I thank you for this day and for your wisdom that has gotten us here. I pray Lord we hear what you are saying to us as a church. Keep us Lord, guide us in the right Spirit so that when we encounter men at any moment we can reach heaven on their behalf as we need to.

Thank you Lord, for the prayers of others. Blessed is this day. Amen
