To be like Jesus 40

“And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying,

Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?

And they held their peace. And took him, and healed him, and let him go; And answered them saying,

Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

And they could not answer him again to these things.” Luke 14 v1-6 AKJV

It is one thing to not observe what is available to others through the life and ministry of Christ Jesus, but even yet another to hinder others from receiving as well. To be like Jesus…

“And he said unto them,

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16 v15-18 AKJV

Let us keep our place in your purpose for us in life and we thank you. Lord, as the day goes today, it is your word that brings healing to our world, in so many ways. We thank you. Today is still your day. Amen

“The same day there came a certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them,

Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Luke 13 v31-35

To be like Jesus. To a make our plans is one thing, to know that God has a plan for our lives is another. Many tell others to do this, and to do that, and much is good council, but to understand God’s calling is to know that he will direct the one he has called.

No position on a pedestal is worth compromising God’s plan. One of the main reasons is that another is usually desiring the position on the pedestal. Life is good, although short. Life is precious. Life is sweet. The journey takes it’s own values to pass on, reflected of the one who lives in us.

Lord, as we seem challenged on every side, remind us of you and that this is your day. Amen

“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her,

Woman, art loosed from thine infirmity.

And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said,

Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from his bond on the sabbath day?

And when he said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.” Luke 13 v10-17

To be like Jesus. The freedom that comes as Christ Jesus intervenes is beyond our measure. The bondage of things like tradition, perception, and simply the sin of wanting to hold on to a wrong idea can cost others for a long time. This woman had suffered for eighteen years and then was healed, yet the perception was that this healing was to have waited again to another day.

Does this imply that the Sabbath is not to be respected, or reverenced? No The implications of this healing should come with the understanding of -How could this not edify the church, morally correct?

At the end of the day, the woman was healed of a long time issue.

Lord, this day, change my heart, change my thinking to be understanding and to have the wisdom of how to imply that understanding. Forgive us in our failures. This day is yours. Amen

“He spake also this parable;

A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.” Luke 13 v6-9 AKJV

The patience and long-suffering as compassion is measured quite meticulously.

“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise hi up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5 v15,16

Lord, help us this day to not let the burdens of wrong thinking be to much to bear. Let your witness be seen in us in a way of true compassion, helping ourselves to be more right in your ways, and also helping others to understand your right last for an eternity, not just a moment. This day is your day, You are the almighty. We thank you this day for your mercies, your grace, and your presence. Forgive us this day where we have failed, and we thank you. Amen

“There were present at the season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them,

Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, whom the tower of Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13 v1-5 AKJV

To tell a person of one thing done incorrectly and convince them to change that one thing is at times a small accomplishment. Jesus told these ‘some’ that were present with him it is more important that you repent, or to change your way of thinking.

When the renewed Spirit of Christ in you really shows there is a renewed mindset of what we do, how we act, what our convictions move onto. It is a pleasant conviction of living with Christ in our lives, and living to be pleasing to the Lord. Not is a superficial way, nor in a way of worry, but in a joy of serving him. To share that with others seems more than difficult to get them to understand, especially in a world where it seems on every turn a broadcast of offence’s are being laid before our very eyes. Offended is the word that is used when disagreement seems to come. Jesus was straight forward here, with no wavering. They did not have to look at any events of the day, as they were trying to do, to understand clearly that they themselves must repent, or perish.

To be like Jesus. Love someone enough to tell them the truth of life, eternal life. Except we repent…

Lord, this day is yours. Amen

“And he said also to the people,

When ye see a cloud rise out of the west straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it ye do not discern this time? Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; let he halt thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison. I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.” Luke 12 v54-59 AKJV

To be like Jesus. What is right? Is it about “doing the right thing or getting the right thing right.” There is a book out with that title, a very good book. Many times we focus on what others see in us as doing what we do as right, yet we miss what the right thing is. Not one is perfect, but we all are to work in that direction.

Jesus here is teaching that even in our own ways, our own laws, we go before one another, and we respect those judgments. We know that when no respect is shown for the law, or the judge, our understanding will change when the jail doors are closed. His teaching is that we not polish up the outside in such a way to try and tricks and deception, because his judgment will come and nothing will be hid. Is it better to warn one, or to let them perish? Goodness comes from Godly conviction, it is not condemnation. It is an opportunity to understand good.

Lord, I thank you for this day. Let your mercy and grace be with my family today. Meet the needs of the one today, who has been a selfless, loving and kind one, many times sacrificing of herself for the needs and wants of her children. Amen

“Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? And the Lord said,

Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, who his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I straightened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against the daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.” Luke 12 v41-53 AKJV

Lord, let us not live a life of hypocrisy. TBLJ 28, I thank you for knowing who we are, TBLJ 29, Help us to help others to further understand the richness that is in you, TBLJ 30, I thank you for the answered prayers along life’s way and for the path you have taken me which has shown me so much of your blessings, TBLJ 31, Let us all stand strong in your strength, TBLJ 32, I thank you for the good things you have shown those who are yours that we may know that we know, regardless of others thoughts, that you are good to us. TBLJ 33

I am so very, very, grateful for your church this day. To understand is to know when a little guy walks by the table in a restaurant, all dressed up and there to eat after leaving church, and reaches his hand to touch a strangers and say hello is to know church is good. “Hello, he says.- and my reply-Hello, you have been to church all dressed up.-Yes..he says,-and my reply-your looking sharp, and church is a good place to go-as he smiled and goes of to his table. He comes by to go get his food,-Hello, we got a baby with us, he says…turn around and look,…and so I did as he insisted…I was glad he was proud of the baby. Thank you sir, he says and of again he goes with his folks, As I began leaving he was looking very hard, The Lord blessed me to be able to bless him with and offering for the plate next Sunday. To go to church is an awesome thing, to those who never came from the church-where is the part of theirs going to be. Lord, let me take on what you would have me to take on? Lord, my only life worthy strength and accomplishments are in you as I fall so short, so often, but as a mustard seed we continue, You have been and are so good to us and we thank you? My vision is in you, let it not fade, …

Hear our confessions Lord and renew a right spirit within us. Those who hear our words and use them for the wrong purposes, help us. Lord, we know your right people are in the right places. Let us put our trust in you. Amen
