To be like Jesus 183

In the writings of Paul we find ‘press on toward the mark of the high calling.’ Is that the calling only of Christianity or can we say there is more?We automatically relate that charge Paul gave in most cases to a life of Christianity. In Christianity, there is a genealogy¬† (i.e. a blood line of relatives) that can be found in the scriptures all the way from the beginning of time to the birth of Christ. Christ Jesus told some who were challenging him at one point, ‘If you do not recognize me, you have not known my father.’ The father of Christ is God. The genealogy is a trace of humanity. So we do go a little more into the distance here.¬†

What does that have to do with being “born again”? Isn’t “born again” a religious term used in Christianity to label those who say they are going to heaven? Well, there’s more…

“Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgement. Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him ruler over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow. He pursued them and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am he.

The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came. They helped every one his neighbor; and every one said to his brother be of good courage. So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, it is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails that it should not be moved.

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness.” Isaiah 41 v1-10 AKJV

Trust God, love to live right, even as we may fail on the short-term, Because his love for you is greater than anything, and he is everything from the beginning to the end.

Lord, this day is yours, I thank you. Amen

To be like Jesus 182

Today

Jesus prayed,

“Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17 v24-26 AKJV

Lord, this day is yours, draw us close to you, I pray. It is with great blessings we enter into this day. We thank you. Our greatest is to be drawn unto you. Amen.

To be like Jesus 179

Today

Jesus prayed,

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; But they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them: that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they might be made perfect in one: and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou loved me.” John 17 v20-23 AKJV

Lord, this day is yours. I thank you for the grace and your Spirit that beckons us to be as one with you. We thank you for all that you have done and will do. We thank you. Amen

To be like Jesus 178

Today

Jesus prayed,

“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.” John 17 v16-19 AKJV

Lord, as we pray to be understanding of one with you and one another, and to be kept in you of you, and to understand the joy of you in our lives as you keep us from evil, we thank you that we can learn of you and be set apart, sanctified by your word. Let our ears hear what your word is saying to us, this we pray. Thank you Lord for this day, Amen

Lord, this day is yours. Amen

To be like Jesus 175

Today

Jesus prayed,

“While I was with them in the world, I kept them in my name: those that thou gavest me I kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.” John 17 v12 AKJV

Lord, as this day goes forward let us pray for one another. Let us pray that we are one with you, and that our understanding of you and your ways come together as one with you and with one another. Give us understanding of your word as we live, line by line-precept by precept-and we thank you.

Lord, this day is yours.
