Beyond the beautiful wood is the Cross.

Just as I am” the song says which played at the end of each service with a man saying ‘would you come, come right now, step out of your seat and come‘.

I am writing of a man who’s life on this earth, in mine and your life time, has portrayed the greatest example of what it looks life to be a selfless, true giving man. A man who truly understood the calling of God in a way that actually in truest fact put Christ first in his own personal life, and in the life of the ministry he was called to.

Through Christ Jesus living in him he understood the anointing of God in such a way that the peace of God shown round about him as he walked the halls of the world. The counsel he brought was first ‘All you have to do is believe you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and ask his forgiveness. Then turn from your sins-that’s called repentance. Jesus Christ knows and loves you. What matters to Him is the attitude of your heart, your honesty.‘ ….by Billy Graham Ministries

From a distance and up-close, his life appears to be one of serving others with a capacity of immeasurable competence in what his purpose was. I know of not another man in my lifetime that can be measured in such a way of more giving than the late Reverend Billy Graham. His travels carried him around the world and across barriers that no other man was able to cross with a message that none other was allowed to bring in many of those places, that was the message of Christ Jesus. It was not a message of himself or his ministry but of the word of God, the Love of Jesus, and the peace of God. He often had to leave home and go on this journey with his wonderful wife and children understanding his the gift of his life that he was to bring to others.

You see, for this to work, they to had to have the gift of understanding the need for Christ around the world, and they do.

Even to those who did not understand, nor fail to understand still yet, his message remained consistent-You need Jesus. As I was blessed to travel for years and be involved in the political world for some time, another favorite song by Brandon Heath came and a part of the lyrics went like this, ‘give me your eyes for just one second‘, and what that request was to see what God seen for just one second of ‘all the people‘ who were moving about the world. ‘I can only imagine’ by MercyMe is another part of lyrics applicable to understanding the life and passing of Reverend, Brother, Father, Billy Graham. What were all the things he and his wife seen this side of heaven, the burden that drove them in keeping under the shelter of ‘the amazing grace’ he shared with so many others.

You see, I was truly one of those-so many others. I tell again, as I will over and over until I myself make that final transition the testimony of how Christ Jesus gave me literally a second or what I felt as a last chance on life through the ministry of Billy Graham. An evangelist David Ring bringing the message of hope even though his life had been riddled with cerebral palsy and numerous tragedies his life in Jesus was able to go forward. His message was you can to have hope and succeed.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding”

I was so glad to hear that message, but most of all to feel the anointing of the Lord drawing my life near to him once again, to release the burden of sins which sought to apply so much guilt in such a way of destruction and hopelessness, and hear the voice and respond directly to the almighty through his son Jesus Christ that set me free.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains…You raise me up to walk on stormy sees…And I am strong when I am on your shoulders…You raise me up to more than I can be… ‘ by Selah

I can take no credits for the good things of life, only that God has blessed my life, and through him will the generations to come be blessed as well. May all the deserved credits of even this writing be where they should and with those who they belong, and the credits of life be where they belong, to the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

“Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God” Mathew 5 v8

I thank you for yet another brother who has come to be with you.

Bless his family today…

   Lord, we worship you…

the river flow continues

The river continues to flow.

The ice that one time held the snow on top of the water now from upstream has broken up and many large pieces have crashed on the islands in the middle of the small river, but the water still flows. Even on the coldest days the river water still seemed to flow under the ice.

My wife and I speaking with a friend a few days ago was asked, is that rocks out on the island or big chunks of ice? Being unfamiliar with what we were looking at, hampered by the weather, and the ice being covered with dirt and debris, we both replied rocks. Now that the weather has cleared some and the dirt has been washed away by the recent rains. These are clearly large chunks of ice that are remnants of the frozen river a week or so ago.

All of this has been phenomenal to watch. The snow came, the river froze over, more snow came and then the river began to thaw. My friend said as the river thawed at night it sounded as if trains were crashing outside his window. If you look closely at the river, the trees along side the islands carry some major scars from the movement of the ice. There was one day that concerns grew intense over the potential of flooding but the river receded in time. What man could arrange such and event over such great a territory as the North East. No one.

My friend has moved on now, as my wife and I will do soon. Our job here is coming to an end but the river will still flow. As I looked at the river today I thought of life with family, friends, our circumstances and how they affect our life and our relationship to Christ Jesus in our own lives.

There’s times where circumstances seem good, life is pretty and clean like the snow. Then events seem frozen in time, covered by what seems the good life while we move on to ignore the frozen hurt concealed in the ice of wrong choices. Underneath, the river still desires to flow and sustain life and bring new life. As the frozen hurt seems to thaw over time, the results of the shifting ice that once seemed so pretty now comes crashing in like a train. Like the trees along the river the large pieces of shifting ice causes scars in our personal lives yet the river still flows. Some of the large pieces continue to hang on as long as possible, appearing as rocks with dirt and mud on them. Finally, they are washed with the water and appear for what they really are. Huge chunks of indifference that have yet to thaw and find their place of being gone for good.

Sometimes there is nothing we can do to cause the thaw of indifference and bitterness to go away faster, just let the river continue to flow. As the sun/Son continues to shine and the river continues to flow, the thaw for this season will come, some scars may remain in this life and even some life/branches may be broken away, but the river still flows.

Revelation 22 v17 puts it this way-“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosover will, let him take the water of life freely.”

In the book of John, chapter 7 v37,38 Jesus put it this way,-“…If any man thirst, let him come unto me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly/heart shall flow rivers of living water.

May we continue learning to give thanks to God in all things as the river continues to flow. Amen

Wisdom and Knowledge

Do you want to learn? Why?

If the answer to the first question is yes, the answer to the second brings more depth to the first question. On the job or in our work place learning is part of advancement most of the time. To increase our skill is to connect with the needs of our employer at the work place and often time brings more compensation. Our increased skill brings more job security, and often adds to our peace of mind because of our connection with those who have worked on increasing there skilled trade.

To say I want to learn, one must be willing to work, and more importantly be open to accepting the beginning of knowledge. We as humans are small part of what has been set in motion from the beginning of time to honor one much greater than ourselves with our lives. This truth provides as it is understood, a much greater path for our individual lives to be blessed abundantly. To respect our creator is the beginning of understanding of how to respect our neighbor (friend, co-worker, acquaintances, etc…), it also builds on positive character from the inside to reflect on the outside of who we are.

Proverbs 1 v7 ~The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
